The Ministry of Defense confirmed the capture of Paraskovievka near Artemovsk

Russian volunteer assault troops, with the support of the Airborne Forces, rocket troops and artillery, took control of the village of Paraskovievka, located north of Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) in the DPR. “In the Donetsk direction, in the course of successful offensive operations, the volunteers of the assault detachments, in cooperation with the units of the Airborne Forces, with fire support from the rocket troops and artillery of the “Southern” group of troops, completely liberated the settlement of Paraskovievka of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the message says.

In total, in this direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 115 people per day, three armored combat vehicles, two Grad MLRS, a D-30 howitzer, an anti-tank gun Rapira, etc.

The Ministry of Defense also spoke about the continuation of strikes on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in other directions. Thus, in the Krasnolimansky direction, the Ukrainian side lost up to 100 servicemen, two D-30 howitzers and two armored fighting vehicles. In addition, near Kherson, Malinovka in Zaporozhye and Vuhledar in the DPR, the Russian Armed Forces hit the ammunition depots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On the capture of Paraskovievka on February 17 informed the founder of PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin said. According to him, Russian forces can encircle the city, which has been fighting for several months, in March-April this year. February 16, Advisor to the Acting Head of the DPR Igor Kimakovsky informed about the capture of all the heights in the vicinity of Artemovsk. The next day, Kyiv called for the evacuation of the residents of Artemovsk, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the start of an offensive by Russian troops in several directions.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
