The Ministry of Defense announced the violation of the ceasefire in Karabakh

Russian peacekeepers recorded a violation of the ceasefire regime in Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result no one was injured, informs TASS with reference to the Bulletin of the Russian Defense Ministry on the activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in the zone of the Karabakh conflict.
“Two violations of the ceasefire regime were recorded in the Shusha region. There were no casualties. The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, together with the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides, is conducting an investigation into these facts,” the ministry said.
According to the Ministry of Defense, peacekeepers at 30 observation posts conduct round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and control over compliance with the ceasefire regime.
The situation around Nagorno-Karabakh escalated in September 2020, when hostilities began in the region between the military of Armenia and Azerbaijan. As a result, a tripartite statement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Hostilities have completely ceased in the conflict zone, and Russian peacekeepers have also been deployed along the line of contact and in the Lachin corridor. In 2022, the situation escalated again, and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan installed a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor, on the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.
On April 18, Pashinyan stated that a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku is possible if both countries “without ambiguities and pitfalls” recognize each other’s territorial integrity. According to the politician, Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and expects the same from Baku. On the same day, Aliyev called on the Armenians who live in the Karabakh region to accept Azerbaijani citizenship or move.
On May 25, Pashinyan and Aliyev, mediated by Putin, discussed the relations between the two countries in the Kremlin, but in the end did not adopt a joint statement at the end of the day.
