The Russian military inflicted a defeat on units of the tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Ugledar region, said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
“In the Yuzhno-Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, units of the Vostok group of troops, continuing successful offensive operations, took more advantageous lines and inflicted fire damage on units of the 1st Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Ugledar of the DPR, as well as the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade in the area settlement of Uspenovka, Zaporozhye region,” Konashenkov said during a daily briefing.
In addition, he said that the Russian military inflicted a defeat on the air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Krasnolimansky direction, the enemy’s losses amounted to 40 military personnel and seven pieces of equipment.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation at the end of September, the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions became part of Russia. Later, martial law was introduced on the territory of these regions.
At the end of December 2022, at an expanded meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu said that during the period of partial mobilization, more than 20,000 people voluntarily went to the special operation zone.
