International anti-terrorism exercises have begun at a military training ground in the Primorsky Territory with the participation of Russian military formations and the armed forces of Southeast Asian states. About it reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“A joint international anti-terrorist exercise of military formations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the armed forces of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and dialogue partners “SMOA Plus” started at the Sergeevsky combined arms training ground of the Eastern Military District in the Primorsky Territory,” the message said. .

The Ministry of Defense explained that the exercises are conducted with the aim of strengthening and promoting regional cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, as well as with the aim of improving interaction between ASEAN countries.

The exercises themselves will take place in two stages, in the first of which the plan will be determined and a decision will be made to conduct an anti-terrorist operation. Subsequently, military contingents as part of a multinational group of troops will work out joint actions as part of the anti-terrorist operation. The department added that military contingents from Vietnam, India, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and others will take part in the exercises.

The fact that such exercises will be held in Primorye, Ministry of Defense reported in August. At the same time, the department spoke about the preparatory stage of the exercises, which took place in Myanmar. Representatives of the military departments of Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, India and others also took part in the international counter-terrorism training. As part of the exercise, participants were able to practice modern methods of using aviation, electronic warfare (EW) and reconnaissance equipment.
