Russian Su-27 aircraft intercepted three aircraft of the British Air Force, which were approaching the Russian border over the Black Sea. About it reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“On June 26, 2023, Russian means of airspace control over the Black Sea waters detected three air targets approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. In order to identify air targets and prevent violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, a pair of Su-27 fighters from the air defense forces on duty was lifted into the air.
The air targets were British RC-135 electronic intelligence and electronic warfare aircraft and two Typhoon fighters. When Russian fighters appeared, foreign planes turned around, the Defense Ministry added. As a result, the border was not violated.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the flight of Russian aircraft was carried out in accordance with international rules and without a dangerous approach to foreign aircraft.
Last time the Ministry of Defense reported on the interception of foreign aircraft on 25 May. Then, two US strategic bombers were discovered in the sky over the Baltic Sea, and Su-35s and Su-27p fighters took off to escort them. The Russian border was not violated, and the flight of Russian fighters complied with all international rules.
