The Ministry of Defense announced the fulfillment of the functions of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh

Peacekeepers continue to perform their functions in aggravated conditions, reported at the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“All possible assistance is being provided to the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Currently, there are 2,261 civilians in the peacekeepers’ base camp, where the medical detachment is located, including 1,049 children,” the statement says.

The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is in contact with the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides, as well as representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh, the military department added.

“The prevention of bloodshed, compliance with humanitarian law in relation to civilians, as well as ensuring the safety of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are discussed,” the representative office concluded.

On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorism measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restorate the constitutional order.” And on September 20, the unrecognized NKR reported that agreements had been reached on a complete ceasefire and disarmament of troops through the mediation of Russian peacekeepers.

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan statedthat the intensity of military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh decreased after the ceasefire. He also expressed hope that the right of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to live in their homes will be ensured by Russia.
