Russian peacekeepers evacuated more than 2,000 civilians from the most dangerous areas of Nagorno-Karabakh. About it reports Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“In total, more than 2,000 civilians were evacuated, including 1,049 children,” the statement said.
The department emphasized that the evacuees were provided with places for temporary accommodation and hot meals. They added that the victims were being provided with medical assistance.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that the peacekeepers continue to carry out tasks on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and monitor compliance with the ceasefire. Since 12:00 on September 19, numerous violations of the regime by Azerbaijan have been recorded along the entire line of contact, the department said.
On September 19, Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restorate the constitutional order” of the republic. Yerevan called Baku’s actions “large-scale aggression” and appealed to the UN Security Council. Meeting on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh will pass September 21.
In the Kremlin statedthat Russian peacekeepers continue to perform their function in Karabakh. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that Moscow sees the possibility of entering into peaceful negotiations to resolve the conflict. Russian Foreign Ministry called “immediately stop the bloodshed” and return to the implementation of tripartite agreements.
