Ministry of Defence reported on the completion of a sudden check of the combat readiness of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet). Examination started 14th of April. According to the results, a high readiness of the troops to “repel the aggression of a potential enemy from oceanic and sea directions” was revealed.
More than 25,000 military personnel, 89 aircraft and helicopters, 167 ships, including 12 submarines, participated in the Pacific Fleet inspection. The forces of the Pacific Fleet that participated in the check are returning to their permanent deployment points.
According to the agency, during the inspection, in particular, Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers and Tu-22M3 long-range bombers flew to the central part of the Pacific Ocean with imitation of strikes against ship groups, and the crews of anti-submarine aircraft underwent exercises to destroy submarines.
The air defense forces of the fleet repelled an air attack by a “mock enemy” with the deployment of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations on combat duty, follows from the message of the Ministry of Defense.
The purpose of the check, which was led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov, was called “increasing the ability to solve problems of repelling the aggression of a potential enemy.” To organize the check, they created a “training environment, as in the case of a direct threat of aggression.” The last time a sudden check in the Pacific Fleet was carried out in November 2022.
