The Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of more than 600 military as a result of the “operation of retaliation”

The Russian Armed Forces killed more than 600 Ukrainian soldiers by hitting Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) deployment points in response to a New Year’s Eve attack on a building in Makiivka, where dozens of Russian servicemen were killed. About it on Sunday informed press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The command of the Joint Group of Russian Forces, as they say in the message, implemented a “retaliation operation” in response to the strike of the Ukrainian side in the first minutes of 2023 at the point of temporary deployment of Russian military personnel in the city of Makeyevka in the DPR.

As specified in the Ministry of Defense, over the past day, Russian intelligence facilities have opened several channels of the Ukrainian military deployment points in Kramatorsk. In particular, more than 700 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were in dormitory No. 28, and more than 600 people were in dormitory No. 47. “As a result of a massive missile attack on these points of temporary deployment of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 600 Ukrainian military personnel were killed,” the ministry said.

On January 1, at 0.01 Moscow time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a strike with six HIMARS rockets (two were intercepted by air defense) on the building in which the Russian military personnel were located. According to the Ministry of Defense, died 89 people. They also reported that the main reason for the tragedy was the inclusion and massive use, contrary to the ban, by personnel of mobile phones, which allowed the enemy to track and determine the coordinates of the military personnel for a missile attack.

The head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin, in the light of the incident, called for finding those responsible for the death of Russian servicemen, including command, executors and those who coordinated the attack in NATO.

“The cynical murder of dozens of Russian soldiers on New Year’s Eve in Makeyevka should not be forgotten! The Kyiv regime, with the help of NATO satellites and their own weapons, is committing crimes against our citizens with increasing impudence. It’s time for our structures to strain to find out by family name – who in Kyiv, from the command to the executors, will be responsible for this. It is also important to know who in NATO planned and coordinated this monstrous act of killing the defenders of our Motherland,” Karasin wrote in his Telegram channel.

Acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin reported that most of the injured soldiers during the strike in Makeevka were sent for treatment to other regions of Russia. The governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov, in a conversation with Sova.info, said that among the dead there were also those mobilized from the region. January 3 in the Samara region passed mourning events in memory of those killed in the special operation.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia.
