The pilot of the Su-25 attack aircraft that crashed in the Belgorod Region died, the plane crashed while returning to its home airfield, TASS reports citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
“After completing a combat mission, while returning to the base airfield in the Belgorod Region, a Su-25 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed. The pilot died, told in the department.
According to the ministry, the plane crashed in a deserted area, there is no damage on the ground. The cause of the disaster could be a technical malfunction, the Defense Ministry added.
Earlier, the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported about the crash of a plane of the Ministry of Defense in the Valuysky urban district of the Belgorod region.
“Now an investigation team and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working on the spot. The reason for the incident is being investigated. The situation is under control,” wrote Gladkov in his Telegram channel. TASS also wrote that the pilot managed to eject.
The Telegram channel Baza published photos from the crash site and reported that the aircraft crashed on the outskirts of the village of Orekhovo. “The attack aircraft fell on a barn with hay, a fire started, the building burned down,” the publication says.
