Sudden check of the combat readiness of the forces of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) has been completed, transmits press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the Telegram channel.
“In the course of the inspection, which was conducted under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, high indicators of the combat readiness of the military command and control bodies, troops and forces of the Pacific Fleet to solve the problems of repelling the aggression of a potential enemy from ocean and sea directions were confirmed,” the message says.
In total, more than 25,000 military personnel, 89 aircraft and helicopters, 167 ships, including 12 submarines, took part in the surprise check. The troops of the Pacific Fleet are returning to their bases and permanent deployment, the defense department added.
In the Kremlin before called surprise checks in the Pacific Fleet as a common practice. At the same time, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that it is not connected with NATO’s plans to increase its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
April 14 Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin on the course of military exercises of the Pacific Fleet. After listening to the report, the head of state stressed that the tasks of developing the fleet, including the Pacific fleet, remain unchanged against the background of the special operation. “Among other things, of course, the forces of the fleet in its individual components can certainly be used in conflicts in any direction,” the president emphasized.
