The transfer of weapons, ammunition and equipment of the Wagner PMC to the Ministry of Defense is being completed in accordance with the plan. About it reported in the department’s press office.
“The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in accordance with the plan, are completing the acceptance of weapons and military equipment from units of the Wagner group. More than 2,000 pieces of equipment and weapons have been transferred, including hundreds of pieces of heavy weapons. <...> More than 2,500 tons of various ammunition and about 20,000 small arms were also received,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Defense also noted that dozens of pieces of equipment that the department received were never used in combat conditions. All received weapons will be sent to the rear areas, where specialists will carry out maintenance and preparation for further use.
The fact that PMC “Wagner” will transfer equipment to the active units of the Russian Armed Forces, to the Ministry of Defense reported at the end of June. Then preparations for this process began.
On the night of June 24, PMC Wagner, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, attempted an armed rebellion in Russia. As the founder of the PMC previously stated, the fighters had 200 km to go to Moscow. After negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin decided to stop the movement to the capital and return to the rear camps of PMCs. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, specified that the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he himself “would go to Belarus.”
