The Ministry of Defense announced the capture of the village of Dvurechye in the DPR

Volunteers of the assault detachments, with the support of aviation, missile troops and artillery, took control of the village of Dvorichye in the Donets People’s Republic (DPR), informed press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“In the Donetsk direction, volunteers of assault detachments, with fire support from operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Southern Military District, liberated the settlement of Dvurechye of the DPR,” the defense department said in a report.

Losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are said to have amounted to up to 50 servicemen killed and wounded. In addition, the enemy lost two armored combat vehicles, three pickup trucks, and two D-20 and D-30 howitzers. In the DPR, an artillery ammunition depot and an AN/TPQ-37 counter-battery radar were also destroyed. Over the past 24 hours, a Su-24 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force was also shot down in the DPR and drones were destroyed, the Ministry of Defense added.

Mesopotamia is a former urban-type settlement in the Donetsk region, which became part of the city of Soledar. As previously reported by the Ministry of Defense, on the evening of January 12, Soledar was completely taken under control by the Russian military. They emphasized that thanks to the complete liberation of Soledar, the Russian army will have the opportunity to block the supply routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and take the Ukrainian troops remaining in it into the cauldron.

January 20, Acting Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin informedthat Artemovsk is close to the operational encirclement. According to him, the fighters of PMC “Wagner” are moving forward “both day and night.” Pushilin noted that after the liberation of the settlement of Kleshcheevka near Artemovsk, “new horizons are opening up there and <...> drastic improvement in positions.
