The Ministry of Defense announced the breakthrough of two lines of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the LPR

Russian troops broke through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the LPR, and the second line of defense of the enemy did not hold back the offensive of the Russian forces. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“During the offensive of the military personnel of the Central Military District, the Ukrainian troops randomly retreated to a distance of up to 3 kilometers from the previously occupied lines. Even the more fortified second line of defense of the enemy did not hold the breakthrough of the Russian military, ”- says in the message. The attack area is not specified.

The department noted that the Ukrainian military left their positions in a hurry and did not have time to pick up the weapons and bodies of the dead. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine remotely mined the area with anti-personnel mines. Despite this, the Russian military managed to gain a foothold in their positions and continue the offensive, the Ministry of Defense clarifies.

February 8 Acting Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik declared about the difficult situation on the line of contact in the republic. We are talking about the situation in the areas of Svatovo, Kremennaya, Lisichansk, Rubizhnoye and Troitsk, he said.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
