The Russian Armed Forces ensured the safety of the next rotation of observers from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission at the Zaporozhye NPP. About it reported Russian Ministry of Defense.
It is clarified that a ceasefire was declared along the route of movement of IAEA representatives from 6:00 to 18:00 on November 2. Also, while inspecting the road, Russian sappers discovered unexploded foreign ammunition. The Russian military destroyed explosive objects by detonating an overhead charge.
November 1st air defense systems intercepted nine Ukrainian drones near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. According to the Ministry of Defense, the purpose of the attack was to create a threat of a man-made disaster at the Zaporizhia NPP, as well as to disrupt the rotation of IAEA staff at the plant.
The Zaporozhye NPP has been under Russian control since the end of February 2022. In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered that the plant’s facilities be taken into federal ownership and the creation of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Zaporozhye NPP” to ensure the safety of nuclear energy facilities. IAEA experts have been present at Zaporizhia NPP since September 1, 2022. The mission includes four inspectors. Their task is to monitor and evaluate the safety of the plant.
