The Ministry of Defense announced a large-scale offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in five sectors of the front

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the morning of June 4 launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the Yuzhnodonets direction. About it informs Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

They specified that 23 and 31 mechanized brigades from the strategic reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of other military units and subunits, entered the battle. In total, the enemy involved six mechanized and two tank battalions.

“The goal of the enemy was to break through our defenses on the most vulnerable, in his opinion, sector of the front. The enemy did not achieve his tasks, he did not have success, ”the statement emphasizes.

It is noted that during this period, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, Commander of the Joint Group of Forces, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, was at one of the forward command posts in this direction.

As a result of the actions of the Russian troops, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than 250 people, the defense department noted. Also, 16 tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles and 21 enemy armored fighting vehicles were destroyed.

Ukraine announces a counteroffensive from the winter. Some officials say the counter-offensive has already begun, while others say preparations are underway.
