The icon by Andrey Rublev “Trinity” after the transfer of the Church for free use remains in the museum fund of the Russian Federation, Nadezhda Reverend, Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, said Wednesday at a plenary meeting of the State Duma.
According to her, all measures for the control, supervision and protection of the icon will be provided.
The icon, as the Reverend noted, “remains in the collection, it does not leave the property, it has not left the museum fund, it has not disappeared from the property of the Russian Federation.”
Thus, she answered the questions of parliamentarians about the transfer of the icon to the Russian Orthodox Church for 49 years.
Deputy Alexander Sholokhov, in turn, noted that the icon, as it belonged to the state, the museum fund, “belongs to, and is in the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery,” and the fact that it is transferred for temporary use is “an everyday practice.”
On July 12, it was reported that Patriarch Kirill and the head of the Ministry of Culture Olga Lyubimova signed an agreement between the Tretyakov Gallery and the Trinity-Sergius Lavra on the transfer of the icon to the free use of the Lavra for 49 years, with subsequent prolongation. At the same time, Troitsa remains an object of federal property. Prior to being transferred to the Lavra, the icon will be restored at the Center. Grabar.
