The icon “Trinity” by Andrey Rublev, after being transferred to the free use of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), remains in the museum fund of Russia. It will provide control, supervision and protection. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Culture Nadezhda Reverend.
The Museum Fund is an electronic database of objects and collections of state museums in Russia.
“She remains in the collection, she does not leave the property, she has not left the museum fund, she has not disappeared from the property of the Russian Federation. Control and supervision, security will be provided,” said Madame Reverend during the plenary session of the State Duma (quote from “Interfax”)
State Duma deputy Alexander Sholokhov added that the Trinity remains the property of the museum fund, “is in the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery,” and its transfer “for temporary use” is “everyday practice.”
July 12 Patriarch Kirill and Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova signed an agreement on the transfer of the “Trinity” to the gratuitous use of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra for 49 years with the possibility of extension. The Grabar Center will be responsible for the restoration and maintenance of the conditions necessary for the preservation of the icon. Today, July 19, she will be brought to the center from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
