The head of the Russian Ministry of Construction, Irek Fayzullin, admitted that some cities destroyed as a result of battles in regions annexed to Russia will not be restored. He said that they would not restore, for example, Popasnaya in the north of the Lugansk People’s Republic, of which “nothing remains.”
“Now, in these conditions, we may not be able to restore some cities somewhere. Popasnaya – we decided not to restore it. Because it’s a city of one hundred thousand, there’s nothing left there, we’re not doing anything there yet,” said Irek Faizullin at a meeting of the public council under the Ministry of Construction.
According to the minister, “seven people live in Popasnaya”: they do not want to leave their homes and live without water, electricity, electricity, heat and gas. The fact that the authorities are inclined not to restore Popasnaya was previously said by LPR Leonid Pasechnik.
In addition, as Irek Faizullin said, restoration work in the Severodonetsk agglomeration “is not really being carried out.” According to Irek Fayzullin, this year Russian entities sponsoring new regions spent more than 115 billion rubles on their restoration.
