To date, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russian farmers have harvested 78 million tons of grain, which will ensure the country’s food security. Former President Vladimir Putin declaredthat the grain harvest in 2022 was expected at 130 million tons.
“Russian farmers have threshed 78 million tons of grain. Thus, we have already guaranteed our food security,” said Roman Nekrasov, a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the Russian Plowing Championship (quoted by RIA Novosti).
In early August, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev warnedthat Russia is at risk of missing its grain harvest target of 130 million tons this year. Mr. Patrushev named bad weather conditions and high humidity as the main reasons for the decline in the harvest.
