The Ministry of Agriculture predicted a decrease in meat prices at the end of summer

In late August – early September, meat prices will begin to decline. This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev.

“Given the increase in production, I think that in the near future we will see a decrease in prices. I think that this will happen in late August – early September. And prices will stabilize,” he said (quote by Interfax).

The Minister noted that the increase in prices is due to seasonality. According to him, this happens every year. Patrushev stressed that there is “by no means a shortage of meat in Russia”, the indicators of the food security doctrine for meat have been overfulfilled.

By data According to Rosstat, in the first half of 2023, 1.8 million tons of meat (cattle, pork, lamb, etc.) were produced in Russia, which is 8.5% more than in the first half of 2022. Meat and offal production poultry increased by 1.1%, amounting to 2.5 million tons.
