The Russian market is fully provided with pork. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, transmits TASS.
“The price dynamics for pork is stable and is due to the seasonal factor and an increase in demand for these products,” the ministry explained.
They added that in the first six months of 2023, the production of steam, cooled or chilled pork amounted to 1.6 million tons, an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period in 2022.
The ministry noted that the growth in pork production is facilitated by positive dynamics in animal husbandry. In the first half of 2023, the production of pigs for slaughter increased by 4.7%, to 2.8 tons. This is due, among other things, to the development of investment projects in the industry, the Ministry of Agriculture explained. The department expects the positive dynamics to continue in 2023.
Earlier, Vedomosti, citing price index data from the analytical agency AD Libitum and price monitoring for 2015-2022. reported an increase in prices for commercial pork since the beginning of this week by 7%, to 148 rubles. per kg, which is 20% higher than in the same period last year. The indicator became a record for the last eight years.
The materials of Ad Libitum note that the sharp increase in cost is due to the lack of volume to meet demand in the large wholesale and meat processing channel. According to the agency’s forecasts, pork prices will continue to rise until mid-August.
