The minister of economic development of the region became the head of Perm – Kommersant

Today at the plenary session the deputies of the Perm Duma elected a new head of the city. By a majority of votes, it was decided to appoint Eduard Sosnin, who until now headed the Ministry of Economic Development of the Perm Territory, to this position. 24 deputies voted for Mr. Sosnin, five people opposed, one deputy abstained.
The second contender for the post of mayor was the head of the Leninsky district of Perm, Alexander Rusanov. None of the Duma members voted for him. Ten deputies voted against, eight abstained.
The post of head of Perm became vacant at the end of June after the early resignation of Alexei Demkin, who moved to the post of vice-premier of the government of the Perm Territory.
Eduard Sosnin was initially considered the main candidate for the vacant post of mayor of the regional capital. Mr. Sosnin has been working as the Minister of Economic Development of the region since 2020. Prior to joining the civil service, he was engaged in the business of manufacturing goods for home and garden, wooden hangers, as well as metal bending and glass production. He has a higher managerial education. In 2018, he became the winner of the first All-Russian competition “Leaders of Russia”.
