The media reported on the use of the Kinzhal missile in the special operation zone

The Su-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber used the Kinzhal hypersonic missile during a special operation. About it informed TASS, citing a source in the Ministry of Defense.

“The Su-34 aircraft used the Kinzhal hypersonic missile during the air defense. The first crew that successfully completed such a task was presented for state awards,” the source said.

In August 2022, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu declaredthat the Kinzhal missile was used three times in Ukraine. According to the minister, no one else has such a missile: “both hypersonic, and with such speed, and with such penetrating capabilities.” The Kinzhal cannot be “neither detected nor intercepted,” Shoigu argued. The missile develops a speed of more than Mach 10 and is capable of changing its trajectory along the way both in vertical and horizontal planes, the head of the defense department added.

The Russian complex with hypersonic aeroballistic missiles “Kinzhal” has been on combat duty since 2017. Earlier it was reported that it was first used during a special operation in Ukraine in March 2022. The mass of the missile warhead is 500 kg, and the flight range is 2000 km. In February, Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov announced that the state corporation had increased the output of Kinzhal hypersonic missile systems.
