The media reported about the Ukrainian trace in the sabotage at the Nord Stream

A new clue appeared in the investigation into the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipelines: the Andromeda sailing yacht, on board of which investigators had previously found traces of explosives, was rented by a company associated with a citizen of Ukraine. The second trace led to another Ukrainian, according to the investigation of the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and other media. Earlier it became known that several people chartered the Andromeda in the German port of Rostock in September. These people could have been involved in explosions on gas pipelines and, according to the investigation, a Ukrainian from a city “southeast of Kyiv” was also present on the yacht. According to the newspaper, he is about 20 years old, and his relatives said that the man serves in the army and did not leave Ukraine last fall, when preparations for sabotage could take place.

The investigation involves a Polish travel company, the head of which, as it turned out, is a woman living in Ukraine. The media suggest that she is a figurehead and does not know about the real activities of the travel agency. So, the company does not have a website, there were no “significant sales” for years, but 2.8 million euros appeared on its account in 2020. The woman, in a conversation with reporters, only confirmed that she was the president of the company and did not answer other questions.

“It remains unclear who was ultimately behind the attacks,” writes the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

The explosion at Nord Stream occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Pressure dropped in both pipelines. Two subsequently discovered leaks were in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Sweden, and two more were in the Danish EEZ. Initially, Germany, Sweden and Denmark agreed to conduct a joint investigation, but this idea was later abandoned. In October 2022, Sweden announced the completion of the investigation, stating “increasing suspicions of gross sabotage”, but those responsible for what happened were not named. Moreover, Sweden refused to hand over the results of the investigation to Russia.

On February 8, journalist Seymour Hersh published his investigation into the Nord Stream incident, in which he accused the United States and Norway of being involved in the bombing. The White House and the European Commission called this information unreliable.

A month later, Western media, citing new US intelligence, reported on the possible involvement of some “pro-Ukrainian group” in the sabotage. The Kremlin doubted this information and called such reports “coordinated stuffing.”
