One of the oldest collection agencies, Sentinel Credit Management, whose sole shareholder is now Alfa Bank, may change owner. About it reported RBC with reference to sources.

According to the publication, the value of the asset is estimated at 1.5-1.7 billion rubles, that is, an amount approximately equal to the agency’s revenue for 2022 – 1.65 billion rubles.

The final buyer has not yet been determined. In total, two companies are bidding to buy the agency. Who exactly we are talking about is not specified.

Sentinel Credit Management has been operating since 2009 and began collecting debt from individuals when this market in Russia was just beginning to take shape.

In 2017, after the adoption of the Law “On Collection,” debtors began to more often complain about illegal methods of debt collection, according to data from the National Association of Professional Collection Agencies (NAPCA). We were talking about methods related to psychological pressure, the threat of using physical force, and destruction of property. The leader in the number of such complaints was Sentinel Credit Management, wrote “Vedomosti”.

According to information on the FSSP website, the company is now included in the “red” zone of risk of causing damage – this group includes collectors who have repeatedly violated the rules of working with debtors during the year. At the same time, a NAPCA representative noted that “in recent years, the SCM company is not one of those that receive many complaints, and has not been fined.”

At the end of 2022, according to the company’s reporting, the net profit of Sentinel Credit Management amounted to 547 million rubles. (-33% year on year). The company’s revenue fell the most in 2020 – below 1 billion rubles, net profit then amounted to 29 million rubles. In the remaining years the company remained profitable.
