The media learned about the participation of the CIA in the development of drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for an attack on the Crimean bridge

The drones that the Ukrainian Armed Forces used to attack the Crimean Bridge in July 2023 were developed with the participation of the CIA. About it reports The Washington Post (WP), citing unnamed officials.

Sources say US officials were aware of Kyiv’s first attack on the bridge in October 2022 and expressed concern about it, fearing an escalation. WP concludes that these fears were allayed by July 2023 because, as the newspaper writes, the Crimean Bridge was attacked using naval drones developed “as part of a top-secret operation” with the participation of the CIA and other Western intelligence agencies.

WP, citing security service representatives, emphasizes that not a single major operation of the SBU and GUR is carried out without the “tacit or other” permission of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

The Crimean Bridge was attacked for the first time on October 8, 2022. As a result of the explosion of a truck passing over it, a car part was damaged and three people were killed. The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under an article on terrorism. The FSB named the head of Ukrainian military intelligence Kirill Budanov as the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. According to the department, 12 accomplices in the preparation of the terrorist attack have been identified, and eight people have been detained.

The second attack on the Ukrainian Armed Forces bridge was carried out on July 17, 2023. The object was attacked by Ukrainian surface drones, as a result of which the automobile part of the bridge was damaged. Then two people died – a man and a woman, who were driving along it in a car, and their minor daughter was injured. The Investigative Committee also opened a criminal case regarding the terrorist attack.
