Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani will make an official visit to Moscow on October 10-11, Reuters reports, citing informed sources.

According to the agency, as part of the visit, al-Sudani will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He is expected to fly out of Iraq on October 9, a meeting with the Russian head of state is scheduled for October 10, and the Iraqi prime minister will have other working meetings on October 11.

In September, local media reported that the head of the Iraqi government was planning a visit to Russia to discuss cooperation in the political and economic spheres. September 23 Iraqi Foreign Ministry confirmed the Prime Minister’s imminent visit to Russia. They specified that he would visit Moscow “over the next few weeks.”

On September 23, a meeting was also held between the foreign ministers of Russia and Iraq, Sergei Lavrov and Fuad Hussein. They held talks on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly and discussed “prospects for joint cooperation and the development of bilateral relations.”
