The media learned about the difficulties with increasing the production of missiles for HIMARS in the United States

The American Lockheed Martin cannot significantly increase the production of high-precision GMLRS missiles for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, stated Tactical Missile Development Director Becky Whitrow in a comment to Defense One.
The company is now operating at full capacity, producing about 10,000 of these missiles per year, with plans to ramp up production to 14,000 in 2024. However, it will take two years or more to ramp up production to 20,000 missiles.
According to Whitrow, the biggest problem for Lockheed Martin is the lack of test equipment and machine tools. For some of the company’s production sites, it is not easy to find workers, as they are located far from settlements. In addition, the company is experiencing difficulties with the supply of some components that are also used in the production of other missiles.
The United States has repeatedly reported on the supply of weapons to Ukraine, including missiles for the American MLRS HIMARS. And in late February, the Pentagon announced a $2 billion military aid package through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This means that the United States does not supply these weapons from its warehouses, but purchases them from manufacturers.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
