In the Samara region, on November 14, the former first vice-governor and chairman of the regional government, Viktor Kudryashov, as well as the acting minister of construction of the region, Mikhail Aseev, were detained, they write “RIA News” And “Kommersant” with reference to sources.

Earlier on November 14, the press service of the regional government reported about the resignation of Kudryashov, who has worked in this position since 2019, for health reasons. He allegedly made this decision a month ago.

Later that day, media reported that the regional government building was being searched. As Kommersant clarifies, we are talking about a criminal case of abuse of power by unidentified persons from the leadership of the State Institution of the Samara Region “Capital Construction Administration” (Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was initiated at the request of State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein.

The investigation believes that these individuals transferred 194 million rubles without a state examination report. LLC “Volgatransstroy-proekt” within the framework of the state contract for the design of the construction of the Samarskaya metro station. The contractor was supposed to complete the work by December 31, 2021, but two months before that it became known that the regional authorities abandoned the construction of Samarskaya because the distance between the stations was too short; in the end, only Teatralnaya was built. State Duma deputy from the Samara region Mikhail Matveev (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) noted in a conversation with the newspaper that the detention of Kudryashov and Aseev would be a serious blow to the reputation of the regional government.

Earlier in October Khinshtein reported, that the chamber adopted a protocol order according to which the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption should check and prosecute artists, businessmen and bloggers for discrediting the army and anti-Russian statements. At Khinshtein’s suggestion, Kudryashov’s son Yuri, known, in his words, “for his anti-Russian statements,” was also included in the list. As Kommersant sources noted, due to the position of Kudryashov’s son, the regional governor, Dmitry Azarov, was unable to agree on his candidacy for the post of head of the regional government at the federal level after the September elections.
