The media learned about the deployment of dozens of Egyptian tanks on the border with the Gaza Strip

Egypt has stationed tanks and other armored vehicles at the Rafah checkpoint on the border with the Gaza Strip. About it reported newspaper The Times of Israel.

According to the publication, the large amount of equipment is also due to Egypt’s fears of an influx of tens of thousands of refugees due to the fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Egypt still keeps the border largely closed, allowing only aid trucks into the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.

As the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram wrote on October 31, traffic through the checkpoint will be open November 1 in order for Egypt to accept 81 wounded Palestinians from the conflict zone. According to the publication, 150 ambulances were prepared to transport the victims.

Egypt previously stated that the leaders of the countries participating in the summit in Cairo, at which the Palestinian-Israeli conflict was discussed, reached an agreement on the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. On October 21, it became known about the opening of the Rafah checkpoint for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres came to the checkpoint to personally monitor the delivery of humanitarian aid. The UN estimates that about 100 trucks per day are needed to meet Gaza’s needs.

At the same time, on October 21, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced the inadmissibility of the resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to the Sinai Peninsula. He also called for international protection for the “Palestinian people and innocent civilians” in the Gaza Strip.
