US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on November 15. About it reported Kyodo agency, citing an American official.

Over the past two years, this will be the first face-to-face negotiations between the leaders of the United States and China. According to Kyodo, preparations for the meeting between Biden and Xi Jinping are now in the final stages.

At the same time, China has not yet confirmed the participation of the chairman in the APEC summit, although the United States has already extended invitations to all participants in the association, Matt Murray, senior State Department representative for APEC, previously said. The White House also talked about reaching an agreement on a meeting between Biden and Xi Jinping in San Francisco.

Previously, heads of state met November 14, 2022 on the sidelines of the G20 leaders’ summit in Indonesia. Then the negotiations lasted more than three hours. During the meeting, Biden warned China against conflict with the United States and noted that Washington will continue to actively compete with Beijing, but rivalry should not develop into conflict.

The APEC summit will be held this year from November 15 to 17 in San Francisco. The forum includes 19 countries and two territories, including Russia, China, the USA, Japan, Canada, etc. Russia was also sent an invitation to the summit. The Kremlin previously said that they would inform in a timely manner who would go to the event from Russia.
