According to the American edition of the Washington Post, from one to three thousand mercenaries from around the world are fighting in the Ukrainian formations.
The publication clarifies that last spring in Kyiv they talked about 20,000 mercenaries from 50 countries on the side of their troops. However, the vast majority of soldiers of fortune, apparently, returned to their homeland before the summer. The article reports that many of the mercenaries came to Ukraine just to post spectacular photos on their social networks. Another group of mercenaries sought to bring the fantasy of the Call of Duty computer game to life, but the reality turned out to be more severe.
In November 2022, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that over 8,000 mercenaries had arrived in Ukraine. These are mainly representatives of the USA, Poland, Canada and the UK.
