The Japanese authorities are actually “sponsoring” the Russian special operation in Ukraine, writes JB Press.
As noted in the material, Japanese companies continue to trade with Russia, thereby supporting the Russian economy.
At the same time, as the author emphasizes, Tokyo officially joined the sanctions regime.
The material indicates that the trade turnover between the countries has even increased. Over the 11 months of last year, Russia’s exports to Japan amounted to about 1.8 trillion yen, and in 2021 – 1.551 trillion yen.
Earlier, the governor of the Magadan region, Sergei Nosov, said that despite the sanctions, enterprises from Japan continue to supply equipment for gold miners in the region.
Against the background of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, Japan imposed personal and financial sanctions against Russia, as well as a strict export control regime. On March 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that in the current situation, Russia does not intend to continue negotiations on a peace treaty, and visa-free trips of the Japanese to the Kuriles will also be stopped.
