The Ukrainian side arrested two employees of the Russian administration in Snigirevka, Kherson region, which was occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the withdrawal of Russian troops, informed mayor of the city Yuri Barbashov in a commentary to RIA Novosti.
“I became aware that two employees of the administration were arrested. These are the people who were directly involved in processing social benefits … They actually saved people … and now they are being blamed for this, ”he said.
The official noted that these employees refused to evacuate the city because they had to look after sick relatives, and admitted that other residents of the area could have been arrested.
On November 9, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops to the left bank of the Dnieper after Sergei Surovikin, commander of the Joint Group of Russian Forces, made a report on the situation in the NVO zone. He explained this by the desire to save the lives of military personnel and the combat effectiveness of the troops, which he called “unpromising” to keep on the right bank, in a limited area. On November 11, the Ministry of Defense reported on the completion of the withdrawal of troops from Kherson, the city is now under the control of Ukraine.
On November 15, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that no decisions had been made to stop considering Kherson the administrative center of the Kherson region after the withdrawal of Russian troops. Commenting on the withdrawal of troops to the left bank of the Dnieper, Peskov noted that Moscow does not consider this decision humiliating. He stated that the Kherson region is a subject of Russia, there can be no changes in this status.
