The mayor of Chisinau, leader of the opposition party “People’s Alternative Movement” (NAD/MAN), Ion Ceban, said that he is suing the government of Moldova “in connection with financial pressure on citizens.” “We have initiated the procedure for filing a lawsuit against the government and parliament,” he wrote in his telegram channel.
The mayor of the capital expressed regret that the Parliament of Moldova refused to accept MAN’s initiative to amend the budget for the current year. They, as the mayor indicated, are aimed at financial support for sectors vital for the population and the city: social assistance, education and infrastructure.
“Chisinau residents contribute 23 billion lei ($1.3 billion) to the state budget,” Ceban noted. “And in return we get pennies.” “Give the people of Chisinau their due,” he added.
