The market for the delivery of ready-made rations fell for the first time in six years

The total turnover of the market for the delivery of ready-made rations and kits for cooking in 2022 amounted to 15.7 billion rubles. This is stated in the study of the consulting agency Infoline, which is at the disposal of Vedomosti. It says that this segment for the first time over the entire period of observation (i.e., over the past six years) showed a decrease. Compared to the year before last, it decreased by 4.3%. Whereas during the coronavirus pandemic (in 2020–2021), the total market turnover increased by 1.5 times annually.

Consumers have increasingly opted out of subscribing to delivery of grocery kits and ready meals due to lower real incomes and increased uncertainty as a result, the study explains the reasons for the market fall. In addition, the sales of players in this segment were seriously affected by the partial mobilization announced at the end of September last year and the subsequent emigration of part of the population – representatives of the middle class, the wealthiest Russians.

In particular, according to Infoline estimates, in the fourth quarter of 2022, the turnover of the second largest ready-made food delivery service Grow Food fell by 27.2% compared to the same period the year before last, amounting to 700 million rubles. Sales of Chefmarket, which delivers products with cooking recipes, during the same time decreased by 6% to 358 million rubles. Elementaree and Justfood services also showed negative dynamics: their turnover decreased by 10 and 13% to 670 million and 480 million rubles. respectively. But the turnover of the market leader Performance Group (delivers ready-made rations under the brands Performance Food, My food, Chef at home, Level Kitchen) increased slightly – by 1.7% to 1.15 billion rubles, the study says.
