Russia increased coal exports in January-February due to supplies to China

Coal exports from Russia in January-February 2023 increased by almost 9% year-on-year to 33.7 million tons. This follows from the data of the Center for Energy Development (CRE), which Vedomosti has reviewed. In February 2023, coal exports from Russia increased by 8% compared to January this year and by 32.6% compared to February last year and amounted to 17.5 million tons.
Monthly exports of fuel this year are approximately the same as last autumn, despite the decline in prices for thermal coal in the world market, follows from the statistics of the CRE. It does not provide a breakdown into deliveries of thermal and coking coal.
