On Monday, employees of several major German airports, including Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, as well as the airports of Hamburg, Bremen and Hannover, will hold strike. It will be organized by the trade union Ver.di, primarily a strike by security personnel, but other airport employees will also take part in it. The reason for the strike is the demand of security officers to increase pay for overtime work. According to the forecasts of the association of German airports ADV, the strike in total may affect up to 100 thousand passengers.
Last year there were several strikes in Germany ground workers airports, as well as employees of the largest German airline Lufthansa. Strikes have intensified in the past year amid a post-pandemic rebound in air travel and high inflation.
