Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, in a conversation with reporters, said that Moscow intends to discuss the future fate of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh with Baku, but contacts with Yerevan will also continue.

The Kremlin representative emphasized that Russian peacekeepers are currently de facto and de jure on Azerbaijani territory, and this is recognized by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. As for the further regime of their stay and all “related modalities,” these issues, according to Peskov, will be discussed with Azerbaijan, but at the same time the Russian Federation will continue contact with “Armenian friends.”

The head of state’s press secretary also added that the issue of the possibility of redeploying the Russian peacekeeping contingent was not raised during a telephone conversation between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Pashinyan.
