The Kremlin spoke about the conditions for Western companies to exit the Russian market

Western companies that want to leave Russia will negotiate terms with a special government commission. In addition, these exit conditions are not related to the ruble exchange rate. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“They will leave under the conditions that the commission will say. There cannot be such a free exit now. The commission strictly regulates this – and the conditions are detailed, all information is available in this commission,” Peskov explained.

At the same time, according to the Kremlin representative, Russia still remains a country open to foreign investment and creating comfortable conditions for the work of foreign companies. This confirms the fact that the vacated niches are being occupied by other players.

“Taking into account the quasi-war that the collective West is waging with the Russian Federation, including the economic war, of course, a special regime applies to Western companies that leave here under pressure from their governments,” Peskov recalled.

According to Peskov, the special conditions for leaving the Russian Federation are not related to the volatility of the ruble exchange rate.

“The ruble exchange rate is indeed subject to volatility, like many currencies. There are periods when it falls, there are periods when it strengthens – this is a normal economic process,” the presidential press secretary emphasized.

Previously Financial Times reportedthat Russia is tightening controls on the movement of capital of Western companies. The publication claims that the supposedly “new restrictions highlight Moscow’s fears about the further depreciation of the ruble.” FT quotes Peskov as saying that it is the duty of every government to create “the most favorable conditions for its currency.”

“The ruble has absolute priority,” Peskov said. He also added that when deciding on the departure of foreign companies, Russia is guided by “its own interests and benefits.”
