The Kremlin said there were no conditions for negotiations with Kyiv

There are currently no conditions for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, said at a briefing.
“Once again: we probably hardly need to repeat that there are no conditions for these negotiations at the moment, either de facto or de jure. We hear statements from Kyiv, we know the legal justification for the impossibility of negotiations on the part of the Ukrainian regime. Therefore, one thing can be recognized de facto: there are no conditions for such negotiations,” he said.
The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that there are no prospects for negotiations with Ukraine, pointing on Kyiv’s legislative ban on negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as unwillingness follow other people’s terms. In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a video message to the participants of the meeting of the heads of defense departments of the SCO and CIS member states, said that the West turned Ukraine into a colony and uses the people of this country as cannon fodder.
Last fall, Putin said that the West, since the collapse of the Union intervened in the internal affairs of Ukraine, bringing the wick to the collapse of Russia. According to him, in the decades after the collapse of the USSR, “Ukraine went through the path of direct, overt interference by Western countries in its internal affairs” and they tried to do the same with Russia.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. Putin named its goals the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. During the special operation, the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions became part of Russia.
Since the beginning of hostilities, the parties have held negotiations several times. The first three face-to-face meetings took place in Belarus in February-March, and the fourth round of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue was held on March 29 in Istanbul. Later, the process was frozen, since Ukraine withdrew from it.
