The Kremlin said that the conflict in Ukraine is developing in an ascending spiral

The conflict in Ukraine is developing in an upward spiral, said the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. NATO involvement in this conflict is growing, he added.

“As long as we see that he [конфликт] really develops in an ascending spiral. We see indirect and sometimes direct involvement of NATO countries in this conflict. We hear statements that testify to the absolute dominance of the political will to continue the growth of this involvement, ”Peskov answered the question of whether it is possible to say that the next point of the conflict has been passed or is it developing in an upward spiral.

A Kremlin spokesman said that Western countries have a “dramatic” delusion about the Ukrainian side’s ability to succeed on the battlefield. According to him, this is a delusion of the West, “which will make you regret it many times over.” He noted that this leads to the fact that the conflict in Ukraine “degrades” and provokes additional tension “in an upward spiral.”

Answering the question, what could be the way out of this situation, Peskov stated the need to heed Russia’s concerns. “You need to internally rewind the film on the state <...> when Russia offered to discuss its concerns at the negotiating table and when Russia was absolutely rejected,” he continued. To resolve the conflict, the West needs to repent of the cynicism of the last eight years, a Kremlin spokesman said.

In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin during a video address to the participants of the meeting of the heads of defense departments of the SCO and CIS member states declaredthat the West has turned Ukraine into a colony and use the people of this country as cannon fodder.

Putin last fall saidthat the West, since the collapse of the Union, has been interfering in the internal affairs of Ukraine, bringing the wick to the collapse of Russia. Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President Putin called its goals the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia.
