Russian President Vladimir Putin is not yet planning a visit to North Korea, said press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.
“Putin is not going to North Korea yet. He has an invitation, he accepted it with gratitude,” Peskov said.
According to a Kremlin representative, the timing of Putin’s possible visit to the DPRK will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels. Peskov admitted that this could be discussed during the visit of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Pyongyang in October.
“We will orient you on China, this will happen soon enough,” Peskov added. Last week he clarifiedthat the timing of Putin’s visit to China has been agreed upon. Russian leader will visit Forum in China “One Belt – One Road”.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was in Russia on an official visit from September 12 to 17. He held talks with Putin and other Russian politicians and officials. On September 14, Peskov reported that Kim Jong-un invited Putin to visit the DPRK. On September 26, a Kremlin spokesman noted that Putin would not visit North Korea at the same time as Lavrov.
