The conflict in Ukraine could end “tomorrow if desired,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“In this case, here you can argue until you are blue in the face, when this can all end. Zelensky knows when this can all end. This can all end tomorrow if you wish,” he said.
Former President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky suggestedthat the conflict in the country could end in 2023. “I believe that the Ukrainians will be the most influential next year, but in peacetime,” he said.
Meanwhile, Putin the day before, December 7, during an online meeting with members of the Human Rights Council (HRC) informedthat the special operation could become a “long process”. He also remindedthat the conflict in Ukraine was not provoked by Russia, but by those who came to power in Kyiv after the 2014 coup d’état.
The special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
