The Kremlin questioned the readiness of the world to abandon nuclear weapons

There are no prerequisites for a general renunciation of nuclear weapons in the world now, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
Journalists asked Peskov if the Kremlin considers it possible to give up nuclear weapons in a historical perspective against the background of the statement by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about the need to destroy all stocks of such weapons.
“This will require a single consensus, and at the same time, this can hardly be expected, it is unlikely that the world has such a comprehensive potential for reaching such general agreements,” Peskov replied.
April 6 Lukashenka declaredthat all nuclear weapons should be “in the course of literally some time, brought into one heap and destroyed.” He also agreed with French President Emmanuel Macron, who opposed the deployment of nuclear weapons in countries that do not belong to the owners of such weapons. “It is necessary to withdraw all American nuclear weapons from five or six countries where they are located,” Lukashenka added.
March 25 Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on the completion of the construction of a storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) in Belarus by July this year. The President noted that Moscow is not transferring nuclear weapons to Minsk, but is doing what the United States has been doing for many years – deploying tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of allies and training their pilots in handling them.
There is nothing unusual in the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in the republic, the Russian president pointed out, noting that the United States has been doing the same thing for decades: American nuclear weapons have been placed on the territory of NATO countries in Europe. Russia has already handed over to the republic the Iskander complex, which can be the carrier of such weapons.
