The Kremlin failed to confirm the data on the iPhone ban in the presidential administration

For official purposes, employees of the presidential administration (AP) are prohibited from using any smartphones, regardless of the installed operating system. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“It is clear that smartphones cannot be used for official purposes – whatever they are, there is no difference here. Any smartphone is a fairly transparent mechanism, so it doesn’t matter what operating system [установлена] “Android or iOS,” he emphasized (quote according to TASS).
Peskov clarified that categorized conversations and materials are also not sent using smartphones. The Kremlin representative could not confirm the publication of Kommersant about the ban on the use of the iPhone from April 1 for the staff of the Presidential Administration.
Earlier today, Kommersant, citing sources informedthat by the end of March, the AP employees were instructed to get rid of Apple gadgets. Such a decision, the interlocutors of the publication say, was made for security reasons: allegedly Apple gadgets are more susceptible to hacking and espionage by Western countries compared to other smartphones. Sources claim that the AP employees were offered to buy smartphones with the Android operating system, its Chinese counterparts or the Russian Aurora (developed by Open Mobile Platform, a subsidiary of PJSCRostelecom“).
