The Kremlin is extremely concerned about the events in Israel and believes that the situation needs to be brought back to a peaceful channel as soon as possible. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“The continuation of such a spiral of violence, of course, is fraught with further escalation and growth of this conflict. This is a great danger for the region, so we are extremely concerned,” Peskov emphasized.

The Presidential Press Secretary also notedthat the Russian Embassy in Israel does not currently have any information about possible dead or injured Russians during the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He added that Russian diplomats are working with the Palestinian authorities, since several thousand Russians live on PNA territory.

The Palestinian group Hamas began fighting against Israel on the morning of October 7. In response, the Israeli Army (IDF) launched Operation Iron Swords. The Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. According to Israeli media, over 700 Israelis were killed during the conflict. In Palestine, 2,200 casualties and more than 400 deaths were reported.

Russian officials have reacted to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with rather restraint. At the same time, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated that the Russian side intends to participate in the negotiations: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Abu al-Gheit on October 9 in Moscow. Priority attention is planned to be given to the “dramatic escalation of the Arab-Israeli conflict.”
