The Kremlin expressed concern over the fall of a Ukrainian missile in Belarus

The incident with the fall of the Ukrainian S-300 missile on the territory of Belarus is a matter of concern in the Kremlin, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“In any case, this is an event that causes extreme concern, not only for us, but also for our Belarusian partners,” he said.

When asked if the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, contacted about this, Peskov noted that the defense departments of the two countries are in constant contact. “The highest possible level of mutual dialogue and the trusted nature of this dialogue allows for the prompt exchange of the most sensitive information. Belarus has taken a number of actions in this regard, making a certain demarche to the Ukrainian side,” he said.

On the eve of the agency “BelTA” reportedthat a Ukrainian rocket fell on the territory of Belarus in the morning between 10:00 and 11:00. As a result of the incident, according to preliminary data, no one was injured. Later the Ministry of Defense of the Republic reportedthat this missile was shot down by an air defense system (AD). The defense ministry also clarified that during the verification activities, it was previously established that the wreckage belonged to the S-300 anti-aircraft guided missile fired from the territory of Ukraine.

Because of the incident with the missile of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus called Ambassador of Ukraine Igor Kizim, demanding that Kyiv conduct a thorough investigation into all the circumstances of the incident and take comprehensive measures to prevent a recurrence of this in the future. The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine declaredthat Kyiv is ready to investigate the aforementioned incident. The Ukrainian side is also ready to invite authoritative experts who are not connected “with the support of the Russian Federation.”
