The Kremlin expects a long hybrid war of the West against Russia

The hybrid war unleashed by unfriendly countries in relation to Russia will last a long time. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

At a conference call, Peskov was asked how the Kremlin assesses the prospects for how long the special operation will last and whether it can be completed this year. According to the press secretary, these assessments should be given by specialists who deal with the SVO – the Ministry of Defense.

“If you mean, let’s say, a war in a broad context – this is a confrontation with hostile states, with unfriendly countries, this is a hybrid war that they have unleashed against our country, then this is for a long time, and here we need firmness, confidence in itself, purposefulness and unity around the president,” Peskov said.

Last week, on March 22, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov at the site of the Valdai International Discussion Club declaredthat the hybrid war against Russia is acquiring more and more large-scale and “sophisticated” forms.

In February, at the Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the situation around the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START), declaredthat US actions against Russia could lead to a direct military clash between the two powers. “The United States, in fact, unleashed an all-out hybrid war against Russia, which is fraught with a real danger of a direct military clash between the two nuclear powers,” the ministry said in a statement.

At the end of January, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the West was waging a war against Russia not a hybrid one, but almost a real one. The minister also pointed out that Western leaders involved in the signing of the Minsk agreements admitted that the agreements were only aimed at buying time, during which Ukraine continued to be pumped with weapons in order to project a threat against Russia from Kiev. In September 2022 Lavrov pointed outthat the hybrid war unleashed by the West against Russia has acquired an “unprecedented character”.
